Journaling is the act of writing down your thoughts in a way that is productive and therapeutic


How to do it


There are many ways to journal that benefit your health and well-being - write down feelings, ideas, experiences, the things that you are grateful for, affirmations, goals, dreams... The idea is that you are getting the clutter out of your head and onto paper. The power of this biohack comes from repetition, so make journaling a daily practice to reap the full benefits!


I like to journal in my planner (where I keep track of LIFE) every morning and night. In the AM, after meditation, I write down 5 affirmations - things that I love about myself or my life (and if they are things that I’m working toward, I write them as though they are true - “I am a talented athlete”), then I write down my intentions for the day (top goals and activities that I want to complete that day). In the PM I cross off things from my list that I completed, then I write down 5 things that I am grateful for that day and 5 things about my highest self “dream life” (again I write these as if they are already true).


Why it works


Journaling is a powerful tool that can “re-wire” your brain by changing your thought patterns and refocusing your attention. It helps you to get organized, to understand your emotions, to track progress and behaviors, to manifest dreams, to prioritize and optimize time, to lower stress, to connect with Self, to reflect and look ahead, and to understand and change your thought patterns toward more positive and productive thinking.
